About the treatment

About crowns

A crown covers the whole tooth rather than only the front of it. It is used where a tooth is too broken down, worn or heavily filled for a veneer to be sensible — often after root canal treatment, or where a large old filling is beginning to fail.
The tooth is prepared, a scan is taken, and the crown is made to match the shade and shape of the teeth around it. You wear a temporary crown while it is being made.
Where a tooth is sound and the change you want is cosmetic, we will say so and suggest a veneer instead. A crown removes more tooth tissue, and that is not a decision to take lightly

A crown is usually the better choice when:

  1. The tooth is broken down, cracked or heavily filled
  2. The tooth has had root canal treatment
  3. A large existing filling is failing
  4. The tooth needs its strength restored, not only its appearance changed
About the treatment

About veneers

Veneers change the shape, alignment or shade of the teeth that show when you smile. How much of the tooth needs preparing depends on where the tooth starts and where you want it to end up — a tooth that needs to come forward may need very little, and a tooth that needs to come back needs more.

We design the case digitally and preview it first. You agree the shape before any preparation happens, rather than finding out at the fit appointment.

About the treatment

About smile design

Smile design is the planning stage, not a treatment on its own. Photographs and an intraoral scan are used to design the proposed result on screen, so you can see the shape, length and proportion of the teeth before any preparation begins.

Where a case involves more than one tooth — veneers and crowns together, or one arch matched against the other — the design is what keeps the result even. You agree it first, and the laboratory works to it.

How treatment works here

01

Consultation

An unhurried appointment: an examination, the scans or photographs your case needs, and a conversation about what you actually want changed.

02

Digital Planning

Your case is planned on screen. Where the treatment is cosmetic or involves implants, you see the proposal before anything is prepared.

03

Written Plan And Costs

You receive the recommended plan, the alternatives, the sequence and the full cost in writing. Nothing is booked at the consultation itself.

04

Treatment

Carried out at your pace, with the aftercare explained before you leave and a number to call if you are unsure about anything.

05

Review

We check the result against the plan and agree the recall interval that suits your mouth rather than a default one.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes, for anything beyond an emergency appointment. It is where we examine, take records and work out what the treatment actually involves for your mouth. It is also where you find out the cost before committing to anything.

Yes. You receive an itemised written plan and you agree it before anything begins. If the plan needs to change mid-treatment we stop, explain why, and re-quote rather than continuing and telling you afterwards.

That is what the consultation is for. Patients often arrive asking for a specific treatment they have read about, and part of our job is to tell you honestly whether it is the right one for your mouth — including when the answer is that you do not need it.

Yes, and we plan for it. Our coordinator sequences appointments around your travel dates and tells you in advance how many visits a plan needs. Send photographs and any existing scans before you book flights.

Call the clinic. You leave every appointment with written aftercare and a number to ring, and we would far rather hear from you early than have you wait and worry.
